Paste your URLs

Copy your monitor list out of Better Stack and paste it into the batch import. Every line becomes a monitor, with the usage preview showing before you save.

Move the heartbeats

Create a heartbeat per job and swap the ping URL in your crontab. Each check-in costs €3 per million, so a nightly job adds a hundredth of a cent a month.

Wire the alerts

Connect Slack, email, PagerDuty or twelve more channels, then group them into alert plans and an on-call rotation — no per-responder charge.

Switching questions, answered plainly

Is Better Stack worse?
No — and we would rather say so than pretend. Their incident-management depth, their log and metric telemetry, and their polish are real, and if you buy the whole observability suite the bundle can make sense. What we dispute is the shape of the bill for the monitoring part: paying per responder, per monitor pack, per heartbeat pack and per status-page feature means the invoice grows when your team grows, not when your load does.
Do you have log management and metrics?
up4 focuses on uptime, network and scheduled-job monitoring, plus status pages, incidents, on-call and reports. Evaluate Better Stack’s broader offering separately if you need log ingestion, telemetry dashboards or full browser transaction tests.
What do heartbeats cost here?
Their check-ins, at €3 per million, on the same bill as the checks. A nightly job costs about €0.0001 a month, one that checks in every minute €0.13. Plan limits apply to the number of jobs (20 on pay as you go, 100 on Team, 1,000 on Agency); there are no heartbeat packs to buy.
What about 30-second versus 10-second checks?
up4 offers intervals down to 10 seconds; Better Stack advertises 30 seconds. One single-region monitor at 10 seconds uses 259,200 scheduled checks per 30 days. Both providers confirm failures before alerting; the shorter interval alone does not prove fewer false positives or a guaranteed delivery time.
Can I bring my status page subscribers?
Yes, via CSV import. Status pages include translations and an optional IP allowlist or access link at no charge; white-label and password protection are business features, €10 per page/month on pay as you go, included on Team and Agency. Team includes one custom domain, Agency ten; PAYG domains cost €2/month each on every plan. A custom email sending domain is not implemented.
What does white-label cover at up4?
Your branding on status pages, client reports and public report views. Scheduled report emails link to a frozen report. One verified custom domain can serve both a status page and report links without using a second domain allowance. The technical email sender remains with up4. On status pages specifically, white-label is included on Team and Agency and €10 per page/month on pay as you go and the trial; client reports carry your branding on every plan at no extra charge.
